I don’t know why, but being a Los Angeles native, I never ever considered actually trying to go see the Grammy Awards in person. Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate music and 99% of the time I have some kind of music playing in the background. I guess I never felt moved to hang with the masses and watch musicians walk the red carpet. I HAVE gone to my fair share of concerts, so that should count for something.
Top three music genre’s? Share in the comments. Mine? Jazz, gospel and neo-soul.
Grammy Awards Ceremony
This year, the awards ceremony is February 5th at, *sigh* Crypto.com Arena…can I PLEASE just call it Staple Center?? They really like that venue, because the ceremony has been held there 20 times since 2000. Now, I’ve got to say that DTLA (you remember what those letters stand for yes? Check this post) has grown up over the past 10 or so years. They’ve really built up the area around Staples Center (I just can’t with its current name) so if you do go you’ll have plenty to do and see besides the red carpet. Eat, drink and be merry.
Believe it or not, there are 91 categories that are awarded and thankfully they hand out a lot of those outside of the ceremony. You’d be there all night into the next day. Which awards are you truly interested in? I’m more curious about the performances to be honest with you. Sometimes I get the feeling that the artists are trying to show out that night and that’s what makes it a comment worthy show.
Grammy Museum
If you’re not exactly interested in going to the Grammys but are looking for an in person Grammy related experience, check out the Grammy Museum which is a block north from Staples Center next to LA Live. Four floors of music exhibits, award gallerys, and interactive museum collections. You can then claim your Grammy award memories.
Enjoy the show! Feel free to share the highlights from the night that you can’t wait to comment on!
May the road rise to meet you and the wind be at your back,
