If you’re roaming around the Central Coast and would like to squeeze in a wine tasting, may I present Indigene’ Cellars in Paso Robles.
Paso Robles is a city in San Luis Obispo County, right between Los Angeles and San Francisco. You’ll find it off the Pacific Coast Highway, about a 3 hour drive from either city.
About Indigene’
Indigene’ Cellars is a small family business owned by Raymond Smith, who happens to be the first black winemaker in Paso Robles. He has Indigene’s wine tasting room off the main plaza in downtown Paso Robles. Make sure you schedule an appointment so you can sit, sip and sip some more. In case you’re wondering, Indigene’ has receipts for how great the wine is. They won gold in the 2021 Central Coast Wine Competition for their syrah called “Parenthesis”. In addition, they won best of class for their “Indigene’ Cellars Chardonnay”.

The downtown area is interesting enough on its own with its artsy area called “Studios on the Park”. This is an outdoor area where artists are doing and selling their thing. You can engage in some self care at the River Oaks Hot Spring Spa. Think private tubs, massages, facials and body wraps.
Olive oil can be found at Mt. Olive Organic Farm. They’re a family farm with organic food and award winning olive oil.
If your timing is on point, check out the Central Coast Lavender Festival which is held in the summer. The Downtown Main Street Association is the organizer. They might be moving the dates around due to COVID, but if you’re a lavender fan and in the area, try and drop by.
