Cars that Go Vroom…Petersen Auto Museum

Let me be straight up with you at the jump, I’m not a car person.  As long as it starts and gets me where I need/want to be I’m good.  That being said, I can appreciate a good looking car and the Petersen Auto Museum has a lot of great looking cars!  Keep in mind, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

So…the Petersen Automobile Museum.  Half the cars that are there I’ve never heard of, but for my car folks, you definitely should check it out when you’re in Los Angeles.  It’s on what’s called Miracle Mile, aka Wilshire Blvd and there’s four museums within one block of each other, so you could easily spend the day in that one area.

1: Feed your car curiosity

I can barely tell a Camaro from a Supra (I kid, kinda), but I really liked learning and seeing the sports cars and the racing cars.  Not to sound over the top, but there were some gorgeous works of art in there.  I took some pictures of the ones that caught my eye and included them below.

2: Try your hand at F1 racing

If you’re like me and got caught up in all things Lewis Hamilton, I simply couldn’t pass up pretending like I was an F1 driver in the Forza Motorsport Racing Experience.  I’m guessing those who have a playstation or Xbox will have a similar game at home, but it was super cool for a non-gamer like me to pretend like I was on an F1 race track.

3: Live your car fantasy

The section called “Hypercars” is so over the top, but the actual car is sitting there in front of you, so I guess it’s possible.  See the Lamborghini and the Laraki Sahara below.  I don’t know where you would drive either, but I can see you stopping traffic.

4: The vault

It cost extra, but I didn’t regret it.  It’s basically the basement of the museum and has over 250 iconic cars.  Some classics, award winners, modern supercars, vehicles used by heads-of-state…it’s impressive.

5: The car from…

Being LA, of course they have cars on display from certain movies or TV.  Batmobile?  Check.  Ghostbusters?  Check.  Back to the Future DeLorean?  Check.  Plus many others.

Car lovers, the Petersen Auto Museum is for you.  Enjoy!

May the road rise to meet you and the wind be at your back,

Jae
