About Jae

I can’t tell you how excited I am about finally making this website happen. For a number of years, I’ve been talking about, thinking about and brainstorming about how I can get into the field of travel while focusing on locations that I love. In a random conversation while on vacation in Portugal, the idea for this website and blog came together.

First more about who I am…I’m a native Californian, born and raised in Los Angeles and have split my time in California between living in Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay Area. You could say I'm very familiar with driving up and down both the middle of the state through the farms and livestock and also driving the Pacific Coast Highway (coastal) route.

Tailored Tailwinds is my way of bringing my love of California to those who are thinking of visiting, those who maybe have only lived in the state a short time or natives who might find in my blog some secret gems of knowledge they never knew about our home state.

You’ll notice (or maybe not) that my posts will have a certain focus. And that’s because I’m writing what I’m passionate about, what makes me proud and what I think needs to be highlighted that hasn’t been highlighted in a travel forum.  You’ll figure it out, just keep checking in and reading.  Throw out some questions, make suggestions and let’s explore together.  I’ve been to a lot of the places that will be mentioned in the postings you’re going to read, but I haven’t seen everything and I can’t wait to read what you have to share.

A quirky thing…if we ever meet you’ll notice that I write exactly how I talk.  A little snarky, sometimes highbrow (I have a lot of teachers in my family), a bit of dry humor, a dash of sarcasm…it’ll all be there.  It is what it is.  I’m knocking on 50, so you aren’t reading the words of a youngin’ trying to impress, but someone who’s been through some things and honestly, who has the time to be prim and tactful.  That’s just not who I am.  And don’t you want to hear from the “real” me?  Another quirky thing, in these pages and on Pinterest, you aren’t going to see a whole lot of selfies because really…California can stand on her own.  I’ll photo bomb every now and then!

Let’s get this journey started shall we?

May the road rise to meet you and the wind be at your back...
